At the Race of Champions in Sydney, Australia, four-time Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel once again proved his genuine connection to fans.

Following the event, where he partnered with Mick Schumacher in an all-German team, the former F1 driver stayed to chat with fans. A Reddit user on r/formula1 community posted a story of his encounter with the former Red Bull ace where he turned the fan's camera into a cherished keepsake.

" I didn't bring anything to sign so he signed my camera and took a photo with it," the user posed.

They continued: "All the other drivers had left by then but he stayed back in the stands to meet with the fans!"

This followed Vettel's involvement in a heartfelt tribute for his good friend, Michael Schumacher, who withdrew from the public since his accident in 2013 resulted in severe brain injuries. Lined up in Syndey's Accor Stadium, some of the greatest drivers in the world teamed up to unfurl a banner that read: "Keep Fighting Michael - We Miss You."

Alongside his godson, Mick Schumacher, this was an emotional moment not just for Vettel, but everyone involved.

Vettel was excited to return to the Race of Champions alongside his godson, who finished second in 2019 behind rally driver Benito Guerra.

“I’m delighted to be coming back to the Race Of Champions and teaming up with Mick again. It will be exciting to race in the former Olympic Stadium in Sydney that looks like it will be a great venue for the Race Of Champions," he said ahead of the event.

“All the drivers who have the honour to participate in ROC fall in love with the event, because it reminds us about why we first started racing; pure competition and of course with the identical cars there are no excuses.

“I will do everything I can to help Germany win another ROC Nations Cup title with Mick on the Friday evening, but I will not be doing him any favours when we are going for the outright win on the Saturday night, especially as he beat me in the semi-finals of the individual ROC in Sweden in 2023!”

Motorsport legend Sebastian Loeb clinched his record-extending fifth Champion of Champions title this weekend after going head-to-head with Chaz Mostert in an exciting, close race.
